No, there wasn’t the annual backpacking trip this spring break. Big Bend took care of that. Instead, I traveled the equivalent of the distance across the United States. Here’s the proof.

4 Days in Big Bend

Today Travis, Kevin, Jordan, and I drove 575 miles to to Big Bend National Park. We made excellent time despite the unanticipated 30 minute gas stop in Marathon. What can you do when the pump maxs out at 2 gallons per minute? It was only a minor setback during a quick 8 hour drive to the park.

Waqaa!
That’s Yu’pik for ‘hello’. Yu’pik is one of the 20 Native Alaskan languages (it’s impolite to use Eskimo). It’s pronounced Wah-ka. Say it 3 times and you sound like a Muppet Baby (Wah-ka,Wah-ka, Wah-ka… ohh, how the standard of humor has sunk!). I suppose I should have learned to say good-bye because this is the last week in the…
